To help pupils make informed decisions about their academic future, all of Year 11 were invited to Sixth Form Experience Day on Friday October 13. It was an exciting event that gave a glimpse into life in MSJ Sixth Form, including the opportunity for pupils to attend taster lessons in their chosen A Level subjects.
Pupils were encouraged to follow the Sixth Form Dress Code instead of wearing their usual Senior School Uniform, and the day began with a welcome talk from Dr. Bowdrey, Acting Head of the Sixth Form.
Year 11 pupils received individual timetables for their taster lessons to give them an idea of the subjects and courses offered in the Sixth Form. The subjects pupils chose ranged from Drama, Art and Product Design to Physics, Maths and Psychology!
During lunch, the girls had a private area in the dining room so they could share their thoughts and experiences so far, which also allowed them to submit anonymous questions about life in the Sixth Form!
The day continued with afternoon tea in York Hall which included Alumnae talks that provided valuable insights into the experiences and achievements of former MSJ pupils, and the opportunity to meet with the current sixth form tutors so they could discuss their academic goals and future plans. A highlight of the evening was a pupil panel of current sixth form pupils sharing their own experiences and answering any questions that arose during the day.
During the event, pupils were also given a tour of Greenslade, our sixth form boarding house, to give them a glimpse of what sixth form life is like outside of the classroom too. Pupils learnt independence is the key to Sixth Form boarding, giving girls the skills they will need for university in a safe and secure environment with staff to support them pastorally and academically.
