MSJ Minis

It all starts with MSJ Minis

Welcome to Nursery – a nurturing, fun and safe start to your child’s learning journey.

Our well qualified and experienced Minis Team will help your child take their first steps into education, focusing on their comfort and wellbeing as well as providing them with a varied and enriching pre-school curriculum including swimming, outdoor education and dance alongside the more regular Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) activities.

Taking their first steps into education

Our expert Early Years team draws on a rich range of early years pedagogies, from Steiner and Montessori to Froebel and Reggio Emilia. By thoughtfully selecting and blending the most effective elements of each, we create a distinctive MSJ experience tailored to every child. Our approach places strong emphasis on social, emotional and personal development, nurturing independence, confidence and collaboration – essential foundations for thriving at school and beyond.

With wraparound care from 8am–6pm, we warmly welcome Minis families at drop-off and pick-up each day. This ensures regular, direct contact with the team caring for your child, allowing for meaningful feedback, collaboration and reassurance. Together, we work to make your child’s early school experience both happy and fulfilling.

Small and nurturing

Committed to keeping our nursery intake small, we really get to know your child and this allows us to assist their personal and academic development at a pace which is right for them.

Using Tapestry Childhood Education Platform for EYFS, KS1, KS2 | Tapestry we track your child’s progress with pictures and information you can access at home, as well as contributing to the narrative in what will become a precious memory of their nursery experience at MSJ.

A balanced start to education

Children enjoy a varied and enriching pre-school curriculum that includes swimming, woodland school and dance, alongside plenty of time for child-initiated play. Our well-structured and welcoming classroom environment supports a balance of free play and carefully planned activities that build essential pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills as children take their first steps in education.

Overall development is further supported through our exciting woodworking provision in the walk-through art room. Here, children safely use real tools to develop both gross and fine motor skills while exploring their creativity. They are encouraged to tinker, experiment and take pride in creating purposeful and satisfying pieces of work.
