A welcoming and nurturing second home
The boarding provision for MSJ Seniors is enhanced by our experienced and dedicated House Staff, who provide a supportive and nurturing environment for every pupil. Senior pupils are cared for across two welcoming boarding houses, each designed to meet their stage of development.
Pupils in Years 7 to 9 live in Benhams Senior, while those in Years 10 and 11 move to Austen, where increasing independence is encouraged within a friendly, caring and supportive atmosphere.
Benhams (Years 7-9)
Benhams is split into two sections – Benhams Junior for our Prep and Year 7 boarders, and Benhams Senior for our Year 8 and 9 boarders.
We spend our evenings doing prep work, playing in the garden, and taking part in lots of fun activities. On the weekends, staff and the junior boarders may walk into town or to the local park, whilst our senior boarders get to explore their independence, going into town together, fully supported by staff.
Austen (Years 10-11)
Austen spans the upper floors of the main School building, with beautiful panoramic views across the Malvern Hills.
As pupils enter their all-important GCSE years, they are supported and guided through the ups and downs of teenage life by dedicated and experienced staff who operate an open-door policy at all times. Although academic life is important to Austen pupils, we also ensure that they make time for rest and fun.
Activities are run in the boarding house each week and pupils help to decide what these should be, whether that is campfires in the Quad, hot chocolate and chat in the house or having tutorials with staff or Sixth Formers.
