MSJ Seniors Boarding

The boarding provision for MSJ Seniors is distinctive, enhanced by our exceptional team of experienced and dedicated House Staff. We have two boarding Houses for Senior girls.

Girls in Year 7 – 9 live in Benhams Senior, while Year 10-11 pupils live in Austen, where greater independence is fostered within a happy, friendly and caring atmosphere.

Austen (Year 10-11)

Austen spans the upper floors of the main School building, with beautiful panoramic views across the Malvern Hills.

As the girls enter their all-important GCSE years, they are supported and guided through the ups and downs of teenage life by dedicated and experienced staff who operate an open-door policy at all times. Although academic life is important to Austen girls, we also ensure that they make time for rest and fun.

Activities are run in the boarding house each week and girls help to decide what these should be, whether that is campfires in the Quad, hot chocolate and chat in the house, or having tutorials with staff or Sixth Form girls.

With the Year 12 house just next door, there is every opportunity to talk over the next step in their educational journey with girls who have just gone through the same process.

Austen is a diverse, inclusive house where girls can be absolutely themselves without judgement.

Benhams (Year 7-9)

Benhams is for our boarders in Year 3 to Year 9. It is split into two sections – Benhams Junior for our Prep and Year 7 boarders, and Benhams Senior for our Year 8 and 9 boarders.

We spend our evenings doing prep work, playing in the garden, and taking part in lots of fun activities.

On the weekends, staff and the junior boarders may walk into town or to the local park, whilst our senior boarders get to explore their independence, going into town together, fully supported by staff.
