As you may remember at the end of March girls and staff were due to fly to The Gambia for the annual trip where they support the remote village of Illiassa. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 and the restrictions on travel this was not possible.

Even though the girls were not able to visit Illiassa in person the money they raised has continued to be put to good use. A processing plant for producing honey and soap has been built, with the roof recently completed prior to the rainy season which starts now. Before this facility was available they were using a dusty corner of the garden.

The new processing plant will enable them to have a proper facility for manufacturing products, which we hope to build on and develop in the future. It will enable skills training locally and greater production and sales.
