On the 29 of April, Year 12 and 13 met for a final night of celebrations before the exam season begins, and Year 13 depart for pastures new.

The students were dressed in their finery and enjoyed a wonderful meal along with a glass of wine, helping them relax into the evening. However, I don’t think that anyone knew what was coming next.

The Burdock Band struck up and everyone found themselves on their feet. After the first song many students could be seen googling ‘Ceilidh band’, perhaps wondering where the evening was taking them. However, there was no respite and even Mrs Rarety was swept into the revelry!

Pupils and staff broke off for a short awards ceremony, honouring the talents of the departing Year 13s, and reminiscing about some of their finest moments during their Sixth Form life. ‘Indefatigable’, ‘Ebullient’, and ‘Inspirational’ are just some of the words staff chose to describe students in their final year.

Mr Jackson, Assistant Head of Sixth Form said, "They really have been a credit to themselves and the school and many are tipped for great things in the future. It was a special evening for us all, not just because we let go of our inhibitions on the dance floor, but because our marriage as a community was on show for everyone to see. These are memories and relationships that I am sure will last far beyond the evening."
