Two Year 8 pupils have been shortlisted in the Secondary Category in the Childnet Film Competition 2021.
Imogen and Bessy worked together to produce a two-minute film that strongly depicted the importance of validating information on the internet.
The pair were both introduced to the Childnet Film Competition back in Year 6 by the IT Manager and Teacher of Computing and Mathematics, Mrs Aynsworth, as part of their E-Safety topic. Due to the immense enjoyment from pupils, this is now a project that is part of the Digital Leaders Club. This is a club both pupils attended every week where they were given the opportunity to be creative, explore a variety of apps and filming techniques such as animation. Particularly, stop-motion animation, which is how both produced their short film.
The Digital Leaders Club also looks at promoting good digital citizenship and explores using technology.
On Imogen and Bessy's success, Mrs Aynsworth said,
"I am super proud of these girls who worked independently and proactively to complete the project. They took on board the brief, met the requirements, and delivered on schedule. It’s a great competition and project for discussing e-safety topics and getting young people to use their digital skills effectively."
Along with being shortlisted, Imogen and Bessy also won a handful of prizes, as well as their film being featured on the Childnet Film Competition's website.
