Year 11 English Department takes on London at Christmas time!
'Tis the season for more than just snowflakes and twinkling lights; The English Department Year 11 pupils had a wonderful day filled with cultural exploration, literature, and festive fun in the heart of London.
First on the agenda was the visit to the 'Ally Pally' Ice Rink. Ice skating at Alexandra Palace sets the tone for the day's festivities. With the pupils having fun, enjoying the crisp winter air whilst gliding gracefully across the ice.
A Dickensian Delight: "A Christmas Carol" at Alexandra Palace Theatre
Following the ice-skating adventure, the girls found themselves in the splendid Alexandra Palace Theatre. Where the magic of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" comes to life on stage. This classic tale of redemption and goodwill is not just a part of their GCSE Literature syllabus; it's a theatrical experience that promises to captivate and transport the pupils to Victorian London.
The English Department carefully crafted this excursion to be a fusion of learning and celebration, a reward for the hard work and dedication the Year 11 pupils have poured into their studies throughout the year. As they watched the characters from "A Christmas Carol" dance across the stage, they connected with literature in a way that goes beyond the classroom. And at the same time creating memories to last a lifetime with there friends at Christmas Time.
