Giving Day 2023

MSJ Giving Day - what's it all about? The end of November is global Giving Day: a day when people everywhere come together to do something to support the causes and communities that mean so much to us all.

Please do join us for our MSJ Giving Day on 28-29 November to raise money for the MSJ Bursary Fund:

  • This assists around 1 in 4 pupils at the School with means-tested fee remissions
  • Our aim is to raise £2million through fundraising by 2025 to create fully funded bursary places for talented girls

MSJ Giving Day is about coming together as a community, having fun, celebrating the School run-up to Christmas, as well as raising funds. Last year we raised almost £13,500: can we raise the bar for 2023?

How you can get involved

You can support our Bursary Bauble Appeal by sponsoring a bauble with your name and a dedicated message which we’ll hang in York Hall.

Giving to education is like giving a gift for life. Every penny of the money raised will go to the Bursary Fund, which will help us create an even more diverse and energetic community.

Baubles are available in different sizes for different donation levels:

Blue Blizzard (14cm) £20

Red Rudolph (25cm) £75

Silver Snow Globe (30cm) £150

Gold Glitter Ball (40cm) £500

If you are a UK tax payer, we can claim Gift Aid on your donation which will mean a further 25% is added to your gift. This information will be captured when you click on the donate button to give your details through our secure Charities Aid Foundation payment portal.

Baubles are available to sponsor now. Just click on the button below to make your donation and we will email you to get your message for your bauble. We will then hang your bauble in York Hall for all to see during the Christmas period including parent Drinks, pupil Christmas Dinners, assemblies, the school production and more!

Lead DonationsCould you be a lead donor to the Bursary Fund, in a position to donate early to the appeal which will allow us to match-fund money raised, or ‘unlock’ additional donations if we reach certain thresholds?

If so, please call us in the Development Office.

18:00 - 19:00: Following our light switch-on, we will be moving into Lawnside for our 'Shwopping' event.

Important Information about Shwopping

Shwopping is sustainable, guilt-free and planet-friendly shopping and this event will allow 'Shwoppers' to exchange quality items that they no longer want and swap them for someone else’s! Everyone who wishes to take part should bring in excellent quality items that you no longer wear to exchange them for other people’s pre-loved items. No money changes hands. This will include women’s wear and children’s wear (3 years upwards), including clothes, shoes and accessories (eg handbags, scarves, jewellery etc). No underwear, swimwear or nightwear, please.

Please donate any suitable items by November 21st – a collection point will be set up in Reception for items.  We do not have the manpower to allocate tokens according to how much/the value each individual gives, the system will operate on trust that people take on the night roughly in accordance with what they donate.
