“I have been delighted with our choice of an all-girls school for our two daughters. A wise former head said that mixed school tend to be better for boys and generally not so good for girls. She explained this by drawing an analogy of a school playground- where she said the majority of boys will be in the centre taking the lead in a big group and playing whilst most (but not all) girls will stay on the edge often more individually. Whilst this is a huge generalisation, we have found that our girls have built strong female friendships at MSJ with their peers and also staff and are developing as confident young adults - not just looking for the approval of young men!

One of our daughters was a slow starter academically at MSJ. She has benefited hugely from the support of the Learning Support team. The team has supported her learning all the way through School and know her very well - not just academically but also being a kind and thoughtful ear for Ellen growing up. This is something she (and we) have really appreciated. Ellen has benefited from the nurturing and caring environment at MSJ - many of her teachers have known her for a long time. So when Ellen was ready to pick up the pace, the staff gave her great support. In year 11, staff put on revision lessons in their lunch breaks and at the weekend which she lapped up. She achieved excellent GCSE results - far better than she or we would have imagined at the start of Year 10.  She seems settled into MSJ Sixth Form form and has opted to flexi-board. She is loving this with the greater freedom the school gives her.”
