Malvern St James Charity Fundraising

Charity Fundraising

At Malvern St James, we applaud philanthropy, encouraging pupils to identify areas where they can make a difference to the wider community and supporting a range of charities on an individual, group and whole school basis.

Locally

Malvern Special Families is a charity which supports children with particular learning or physical needs and their families. As well as donating proceeds from our annual Bonfire and Fireworks Evening, our Sixth Form host a themed party for the children every January; bringing joy and excitement to these families and benefitting from the opportunity to assist in practical ways as well as financially.

Nationally

Nationally we support several charitable incentives: The Red Box Project, Macmillan Big Coffee Morning, Children in Need, Comic/Sports Relief, The Red Cross Poppy Appeal, Women’s Aid and the Breast Cancer Charity to name a few.

The girls are encouraged to take the lead on how we raise funds and awareness of these charities and the School regularly holds dress-up days, bun sales and other events to promote a philosophy of giving.

Internationally

Our sister school in The Gambia was built in 2006. Since then, groups of Sixth Form girls have visited biennially to teach at, paint, care for and learn from the school. Each group gaining an invaluable insight into third world living and the pitfalls of charity as well as experiencing a unique visit which will stay with them forever.

The girls are expected to raise money towards the Malvern St James Gambia Project in the 18-month build-up to their visit, acting both independently and as a group. This distinctive opportunity supports our girls in developing a range of core values - compassion, acceptance, appreciation and empathy amongst others.

Chosen by the Girls

In addition to the charitable causes regularly supported by Malvern St James, we are always keen to promote charities championed by individual girls, especially if they themselves have raised money or awareness through personal endeavour. We recognise that Malvern St James girls are passionate in their wish to support others and aim to assist them in their efforts where possible.
