Malvern St James School would like to congratulate Grace who has been offered a place at the drama school, RADA, in September.

Grace has been a Drama Scholar at MSJ since Year 9 and has been involved in multiple productions both small and large. This culminated in her most recent role as Helena, in our immersive production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

Her regular triumphs in the national ISA Monologue Competition and, more locally, the Worcester Competitive Arts Festival have demonstrated how widely her talents have been recognised.

She is one of two Year 13 scholars accepting places at prestigious higher education performing arts institutions, with her classmate Abigail looking forward to studying Dance and Musical Theatre at the School of Theatre Excellence, Birmingham.

They have both appeared in a range of productions; the hard hitting four hander, ‘Pool no Water’, the stylish, jazz aged musical, Chicago’, and the comic and heartwarming, ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’.

Whilst Grace was rehearsing Shakespeare, Abigail was working on a Teen Edition of the musical ‘Six’, adding to the Expressive Arts departments talent and dedication, which has now been fully rewarded.

Our huge congratulations go to both Grace and Abigail, and we wish them every success as they move forward!

The Arts are a popular choice amongst all students, from Prep to Sixth Form, at Malvern St James. The Bronze and Silver Arts Awards are embedded into our curriculum be that through Art, Drama or Music.

Since the launch of the Bronze Arts Award in 2005 pupils in Years 7 and 8 have had the chance to work towards this with many progressing to The Silver Arts Award in Year 10 and Sixth Form. As part of their Bronze Awards pupils have a whole week off timetable working with professional artists and arts practitioners, and the Silver Arts pupils work on a project with an Arts Organisation, such as Vamos Theatre Company.
