MSJ Pre-Prep and Prep (Reception - Year 6)
Girls attend a ‘Two-Day Taster’ at Malvern St James including informal assessment. Applicants who are non-UK residents can be assessed remotely. In addition, Key Stage 2 applicants are informally interviewed.
MSJ Seniors (Year 7 - Year 10)
Entrance Examinations take the form of online Cognitive Ability Tests (CAT4) and a written English Comprehension examination (or online Oxford Placement Test for non-native English speakers).
CAT4 is the most widely used test of reasoning abilities in the UK. It measures the four principal areas of reasoning – verbal, quantitative, non-verbal and spatial ability tasks. The CAT4 may be used to predict future educational attainment and helps to build understanding of individual potential and learning styles.
MSJ Sixth Form (Year 12)
As part of the application procedure, girls are required to take written papers in three subjects they intend to study at Advanced Level. Girls whose first language is not English are also required to take an online Oxford Placement Test, along with the subject papers.
Offer of a Place
Following the successful completion of our Entrance Exams and interviews your daughter will be offered a place at Malvern St James Girls’ School.
To confirm your daughter’s enrolment we require the following:
- Completed Parent Contract Acceptance Form, signed by both parents/legal guardian
- Completed New Starter Forms
- Payment of the Acceptance Deposit (£800 UK residents/one term’s fees for non-UK residents)
- The Acceptance Deposit is held in the School bank account and is refunded after your daughter’s final term at Malvern St James, less any extra costs for that final term. The deposit is non-refundable in the event that your daughter does not take up a place previously accepted.
