Elizabeth Haldar, an alumna from the class of 2006, visited MSJ to deliver an inspirational speech at our weekly Pudding Club event.
Pudding Club welcomes a range of inspiring individuals from all different sectors to share advice on their career journey and offer insight into a wide variety of industries. This gives all pupils within the Senior School through to Sixth Form the opportunity to gain knowledge and ideas for their own options and path for life after MSJ. Visitors deliver engaging talks or workshops that offer real value to the girls’ educational experience as well as first-hand insight that not all teachers can offer.
“Elizabeth offered valuable insights into her professional career, culminating in her current position within Risk Management in the finance sector, specifically in private equity. She highlighted the inherent challenges of navigating a predominantly male-dominated industry, emphasising the significance of determination and diligent effort to surmount such hurdles.”
“The discussion proved immensely beneficial, particularly for individuals like myself, harbouring aspirations in the realm of finance.
“Elizabeth’s career path was anything but linear, initially aspiring to pursue teaching before venturing into many other jobs which then led her into finance. Engaging with her instilled a sense of reassurance, underscoring the fluidity of career paths and the liberty to evolve one’s aspirations over time.”
Zama, Year 12
“Elizabeth kindly shared her career story with Pudding Club, highlighting some of the strategic steps that she took to leverage opportunities that propelled her in the direction she wanted her career to follow. This was a wonderful example of a squiggly career path which is commonplace in the working world and demonstrates how important career management skills are in a competitive marketplace.”
“MSJ pupils are lucky to absorb the wisdom and advice that our speakers share with them and have had the opportunity to realise that much of this advice can be applied to every sector and future career path.”
“This means that even though the speaker may not necessarily be from an industry that they harbour aspirations to work in, attending is a valuable use of their time and excellent preparation for the individual journeys they will take after their school education.”
