Theatre Trip to ‘Lysistrata’

Theatre Trip to ‘Lysistrata’

Pupils from Years 11 to 13 studying Classical Civilisation, Drama and Latin enjoyed a performance of ‘Lysistrata', a Greek comedy by Aristophanes. The production, which took place at King's School, Worcester, was performed by the professional company, Actors of Dionysus.

‘Lysistrata' is an A2 Drama play and Aristophanes is an author in the Greek and Roman Comedy module for A2 Classical Civilisation.

Mrs Baird, Classics teacher, said ‘This was an excellent opportunity to see ancient comedy dating from the 5th century BC in action. The highly entertaining plot tells how the women of Athens are prepared to go to any lengths to stop a war'.
