Outdoor Pursuits in the Autumn Term - a report by Miss Cole
The Outdoor Pursuits Department tries to cram as many outdoor activities as possible into the first part of the Autumn Term, before the nights start drawing in and the weather becomes colder and wetter. So sailing, climbing and rowing were offered and enjoyed by many of the girls. Sailing at Croft Farm was very popular. A major event of the Autumn Term is the Year 7 Adventure Camp, when the whole year group camped at Croft Farm. Over the 2 days, they camped, canoed on the River Avon, made rafts, solved lots of problems and had a great deal of fun.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award – Expedition Section
Since the last newsletter, 28 girls have completed their Gold & Silver Expedition section. They walked in the Peak District and all the girls met all 20 conditions for a successful expedition. This is a great achievement - well done to all who took part.
The Bronze Award group, consisting of 14 Year 10s, completed their final expedition in October. They walked out from School to camp at Coddington and then headed back over the Malvern Hills. They all did very well and deserve congratulations. . However just as one expedition season finishes, so we start the next. Enrolment for next year at Gold and Silver Level has been high; we have already started preliminary training on the Malvern Hills and the girls are progressing well. All-in-all, we have had a very busy and productive term.
