Rounders

Last week, Year 8 and 9 travelled away to play The Chantry School.

Unfortunately, due to the weather, the games had to be played indoors. This did not give us our usual advantage as our big hitters were just seeing the ball rebound off the wall and come back in too close to the posts.

Year 8 lost their match by a narrow 8 1/2 - 11, but Year 9 played solidly to win their game 12 – 7.

Meanwhile, Year 7 were playing their first Rounders match against Chantry here at MSJ and although their game was also indoors, they stormed to victory, winning their game 35 1/2 - 20

Hockey

On Friday, our U13 team travelled to Cannock for their National Finals day.

This followed their progression through the stages of a competition which was open to all schools both State and Independent in the whole of the country. From the thousands of schools eligible to take part, MSJ arrived at Cannock as one of only ten schools that made it to this final stage.

The competition – as was expected - was very tough, but all girls in the squad played with great spirit. They continued the form that they have demonstrated for the whole of the season, managing an overall 7th placing. Congratulations to them for reaching such a high national ranking.

Individual Success - Golf

Lucy Walton took part in 3 days of tough competition in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Senior Ladies County Golf Championships last week.

After dominating the opposition of top ladies players in the 2 counties, Lucy won the competition, to take the prestigious title. This would be an achievement for any player, but one that is phenomenal for Lucy as, at 12 years of age, she is still very much a junior player.
