Gambia Expedition - Easter 2011

20 Sixth Formers joined Mrs Newby, Mrs Prophet and Mrs Musgrave on The Gambia 2011 Expedition during the Easter holidays. The girls worked on a number of activities and community projects and, everywhere they went, they were welcomed with smiles and wonderful hospitality.

The impressions were unforgettable and many of the girls felt that this had been by far the best and most fulfilling experience of their lives.

Through visiting the Success Nursery School in Batu Kunku, which was built with MSJ funds two years ago, the girls were able to see the huge difference that has been made to the children's lives through the money raised back in the UK.

Some of the comments from the girls included: “It made me appreciate all that I have back at home”. “The children's desire to learn, change and expand their horizons kept us going in the intense heat”. “The Gambian people are one of the kindest, caring communities I have ever met. They are truly the smiling coast of Africa!”. “Seeing schools in different stages of development has really opened my eyes to how important the work is that MSJ is doing out here”.
