As Head of Careers, Miss Marfleet aims to provide the individual advice and guidance that the girls will need to make an informed decision as to what they may progress on to in the future.
Careers Provision
In Years 7-11 guidance is provided through PHSE & C at key transition points in the girls' schooling, assisting in the selection of GCSE options, work experience and progression on to the Sixth Form. Girls are welcome and encouraged to discuss their options in a one-to-one interview in the Careers Room. Parents are also welcome to attend the interviews; all information is tailored to the needs of the individual student.
Morrisby
In Year 11, the Morrisby Psychometric Test is an optional extra available to the girls. This profile is a series of tests or assessments which together provide valuable information on a student's abilities and the type of work setting that would suit them best.
Work Experience
We are continuing to develop work experience opportunities available to our Year 11 pupils, working in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and building links with the Alumnae. For the girls this will be an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of a career that they may ultimately enter, giving them a realistic view of the profession and helping them to make informed choices with regard to their future. This year's work experience will be undertaken for one week, from the 22nd to the 26th June 2009.
Careers Resources
Resources for careers information are located within the careers section of the school library. However, these resources are supplemented by a range of computer programmes such as Careerscape and Kudos, which are available on the school network.
