SENIOR SCHOOL
Malvern Young Writer Competition

Once again, talented MSJ students have been amongst the prize-winners of the annual Malvern Young Writer Competition. Special congratulations to Talitha de Villiers Kuun who won the first prize in the Poetry 13 – 15 category and Georgiana Kwok who won the second prize in the Prose category for the same age group.
In addition to these prizes, Commendations were also awarded to Charlotte Davey, Hannah Willis, Josie Hobbs and Chen Tsui. Well done to everyone who took part.
Talitha's winning poem,' Mrs Ramsay', is printed below:
He swears all the time. Nonstop.
Bleep this, cut that out. Why can't
just for once in his life,
he care about me?
You know, now and again, those
3 little words would be nice.
I love you.
The kids love my cooking. You don't.
Friends arrive, you entertain. Then
when my food is ready,
you take all of the credit.
You know, now and again, those
few little words would be nice.
This is delicious.
The sheep went to slaughter. You cried.
I went to hospital, it's not funny. When
I'm almost in surgery you cry. Not though
because I'm ill. But because there is no clean laundry.
You know, now and again, those
kind little words would be nice.
Get better soon.
As much as I hate you. Which I do.
I always find myself looking. Not
for another man. But for the
kind, sensitive man I married.
You know, now and again, those
honest little words would be nice.
Yes I do.
