SENIOR SCHOOL
Malvern St James Launches Masterchef Competition
The first MSJ Masterchef competition was launched this term and is open to girls in years 7 to 9. The competition encourages girls to demonstrate a range of practical skills as well as originality and creativity in their choice of dishes. During the heats, the girls were required to cook and present a one course meal in an hour time frame. From the heats, only six girls were selected by the panel of judges to remain in the competition.
For the grand final the girls had to remain calm and demonstrate excellent time management skills. Their challenge was to cook and present a two course meal in one and a half hours, with the results assessed by a judging panel which included a Chef from a local restaurant.
The standard of cooking demonstrated by all the girls was extremely high. The judges were unable to choose between 2 of the contestants and so joint first place was awarded to Sky Pardoe-Davies (Year 8) and Holly Pickerell (Year 9). The girls' winning dishes will be featured on the school menu next week.
