SENIOR SCHOOL

The 2010 South Wales Rally was hosted by Haberdashers Monmouth on Saturday 19th September. Nine schools competed at 1^st Team, 2^nd Team and U15 level and the standard of play was extraordinary.

This was the first tournament of the season for MSJ, who came runners-up in the competition last year. All three of our teams played extremely well and the Firsts returned to School victorious, having won the Welsh Rally for the first time.

The team played seven matches, winning six and drawing one match 1-1 with Cheltenham Ladies College. The last match of a long, hot and tiring day finished with some excellent team play as MSJ beat Monmouth 6 – 1 to win the tournament.

Sports Prefect, Gigi Hensher, said ‘Throughout the day we had some very impressive play, including some awesome interceptions, great work in defence and attack, skilled tactical play, great saves by Gail Porter and a spectacular goal by Jessica Rhodes. However, without the support from all the parents, Mrs Marks, Miss Renniger, Miss Campbell and members of our other teams, we would not have been able to push through the wall of exhaustion and keep going – so sincere thanks to you all'.
