Year 5 Trip to the Ironbridge Museum - a report by Lorna Rolinson

On Tuesday 1st November Year 5 went to the Ironbridge Museum on a History trip, where they learned about the Industrial Revolution. They also learned about the Ironbridge itself. At 8:30 they set off to the Museum. First they went to Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron, where they saw Victorian artefacts including benches and kitchens. They also saw a 3-D map showing the village, the school and the church. As they went from room to room they saw timelines and models showing how they used to shape iron. At 11:00, after they finished looking at the museum, they went to the Blast Furnace where they looked through a grid showing rushing water leading to where the wheel would have been.

Next they went to the amazing Darby House and displays of old fashioned beds, desks and a dining room. It also had a small room where they could dress up like Victorians. They all found it really fun! After that they all went down to the tar tunnel. Immy Surridge thought the pools of tar were really cool and Sophie Flanagan thought it was amazing and the tar pools looked very sticky.

After that they went to a small barn to have lunch. Next they went to the Blists Hill Victorian Village, where they went to lots of shops and the pub! It was very exciting because they learned two songs! They also went to the sweet shop, which was amazing because there were so many sweets. Lilian Price really liked the lace shop because it had lots of lovely things and she also bought a napkin for her mum. They also went on a horse and cart which was very bumpy!

Thank you to Mrs Jones and Mrs Cardy for organising the trip and Jane for driving us there and back.
