World Book Day - a report by Mrs Wilkinson

World Book Day - a report by Mrs Wilkinson

The Prep Department once again excelled itself in the diversity and professionalism of costumes featured on World Book Day! Every pupil and teacher came dressed as a favourite book character and all brought their books with them, ready for some interesting review work in class.

The day started with a fascinating Assembly, in which some of MSJ’s Key People shared their most special books with us. We heard from Mrs Lindner, Mrs Woodhouse, Rosie Baker (Head Girl) and several others. Year 6 had decided to come collectively as Alice in Wonderland characters – an effective move, which portrayed Mr Charles as a worryingly convincing Mad Hatter!

After lunch, another treat awaited us, as Royal Flush, one of the Year 12 Young Enterprise groups, was unveiling their own Children’s Book to the department. It was an instant hit and Mrs Wilkinson ordered copies on the spot! In addition, the Usborne Book Fair, which we have been hosting this week, raised£350 for the Prep Department to spend on new books – hooray!

So all in all, World Book Day has been a huge success this year. A big thank you to all of our parents who helped with the wonderful costumes and to the Prep Department Staff for making it such an enjoyable day.
