Singing Gnomes Take the World Record!
Friday 19th November saw
an infestation of Gnomes in the Prep Department of Malvern St James as pupils
and staff dressed up to raise money for Children In Need and also took part in
a Guinness World Record Breaking attempt.

Exciting Trips for Pre Prep Girls
November was a busy month for the Pre-Prep girls who
enhanced their learning about People Who Help Us with several trips.

Evie Sambrook, Year 5, has won a high-profile national competition to create a

This year, as always, Malvern St James supported Macmillan
Cancer Support by taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Young Performers' Platform
The first Young Performers' Platform of the new academic
year took place on Friday 7th October.

Pre-Prep 1 Visit a Veterinary Practice
In order to create a realistic Vet Role Play Area in the classroom, Pre-Prep 1 girls visited the Veterinary Practice in Avenue Road to get some hands-on experience!

Autumn Activity Day
Once again, the Preparatory Department gathered for the Annual Autumnal Activity Day and the sun was shining!

Aztec Team Building Day
An amazing day was had by Years 3-6 when they went to Aztec Watersports Centre near Pershore last Friday.

Survive! Seven Lives - One Journey
MSJ parent, Monica Price and Birmingham film producer, Martin Nigel Davey, have created this new stage show in aid of four major UK cancer charities: The Eve Appeal, Macmillan Cancer Support, The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and Teenage Cancer Trust.

Young Performers' Platform
An appreciative audience attended the recent Young Performers Platform to hear a mixed programme featuring younger and more senior musicians, accompanied at the piano by Mr Forbes-Peckham and Dr Grobler.

Junior Department Trip to Cotswold Water Park - a report by Mrs Wilkinson
54 of the Junior Pupils braved the inclement weather and set off for the beach trip in layers of cosy clothing, with waterproofs and wellies!

Eight prospective pupils joined the Year R-1 girls for a fun-filled afternoon of Pirate and Mermaid themed activities!

Exciting Activity Days - a report by Years 3 and 4
We left MSJ full of excitement to start our activity days at Aztec Watersports, near Evesham. As we approached the anticipation started to build! When we arrived we were split into 2 groups: one to do climbing, the other archery.

Meeting the Animals at Bristol Zoo
A fabulous day was had by all at Bristol Zoo where the Juniors met gorillas and geckos, lions and lemurs, seals and spiders, parrots and penguins... to name a few.

Stonar School's Independent Schools' Event
On Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May, Livvy Allen and Izzy Lee represented Malvern St James at the Independent Schools' One Day Event at Stonar School.

Spanish Day in the Junior Department
The Junior Spanish Day was a great success; pupils dressed up in flamenco outfits, Spanish national costume or the colours of the Spanish flag arrived at school on a wave of enthusiasm, ready to get involved in all of the activities.

Royal Wedding Celebrations
There was an air of excited anticipation on the morning of Friday 29th April, as final preparations were made for an MSJ-style celebration of the Royal Wedding.

MSJ Musicians Play at Showcase Concert
Four of our musicians were delighted to play at the showcase Concert of Young Worcestershire Musicians last week.

MSJ Creates Best Dressed Well
Year 5 girls recently took part in Malvern's Well Dressing ceremony, the largest event of its type anywhere in the UK.

Years 5 to 8 French Tour - a report from the Junior Department
Salute! The refrains of the beautiful French language are currently echoing through the Junior Department and the Senior School, following the return of pupils from Years 5 to 8 on the recent French Tour to Paris and the surrounding region.

York Hall was transformed into an Art Gallery for the annual Junior Schools Art Exhibition, held earlier this month.

We had a fabulous day! The sun shone and the frost glittered as we set off in the minibus with our packed lunches, cameras and winter woollies.

Batsford Trip to 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'
Mr and Mrs Woodhouse and Housemistress Mrs Cardy escorted the Batsford girls to Malvern Theatres to see the fantastic production of Joseph.

Junior Department - Highlights of the Autumn Term
Rainbow Day:
Pupils from the Junior department paid £2 each to dress in vibrant rainbow colours to raise money for the Junior's chosen charity. The day was a huge success and contributed to the final sum raised for the Batsford & Gambia Swings.
Visit from HMS Trenchant
On Monday 15th November, MSJ was honoured to have The Commanding Officer of HMS Trenchant, Irvine Lindsay and his Logistics Officer, Lt Matt Rees pay a visit to School. MSJ is affiliated to four ships, of which HMS Trenchant is one.
Swim For Cash - a report by Mrs Winwood
On the evening of Saturday 13th November, 21 girls from Malvern St James met at The Splash to take part in a Swim For Cash event.
Hindu Temple Visit
In the week leading up to Diwali, girls in years R to 3 were able to visit a Hindu Temple in Cheltenham to reinforce their topic work on Hinduism.
Open Morning
The full school Open day took place on Saturday 6th November.
Languages Morning
This term MSJ opened its doors to several Prep Schools to celebrate Languages and the art of communication.
Gambia Gala Night
This term an exciting evening event was held in the York Hall to raise funds for the MSJ educational projects which continue to run in The Gambia.
Official Opening of Batsford House
The Official opening of Batsford House, the new Junior Boarding House for Years 3 to 8, took place on Friday 22nd October.
Trip to Cadbury World
Pupils from Years 5 and 6 were immersed in chocolate heaven during a recent visit to Cadbury World.

Malvern St James hosted another highly successful Coffee Morning on 24th September as part of the Macmillan Cancer Support World's Largest Coffee Morning campaign.
Autumnal Activity Day
Last Saturday morning junior girls and staff gathered at School for a wonderful morning of fun activities to welcome the Autumn season.
Batsford opens its doors at last!
The waiting is over! Batsford finally opens its doors on Monday 6th September after many months of hard work during its conversion from the Bursary to the fantastic junior boarding house for years 3 – 8.
