Year 7 History Trip

Wearing Monks' cowls, experiencing the ‘no talking at mealtimes' rule and chatting to a Monk were all part of experiencing Monastic life at Worcester Cathedral for the Year 7s. Although a little chilly at times, meeting a Monk and learning about medicine making helped to make the trip a very memorable experience
Lucy Walton explains, ‘One of my favourite activities of the day was medicine making. In medieval times monks were the only people who know about medicines, so if anyone was ill they would go to the monks. It wasn't like these days, because the monks said that if you were ill you must have done a crime. We were split into three groups and I was in the group where we had to guess which cure was for which illness. The worst one was a crow's beak, which was a cure if you had a nosebleed! It was a very enjoyable day and one I will always remember.'
