Singing Gnomes Take the World Record!

Singing Gnomes Take the World Record!

Friday 19th November saw an infestation of Gnomes in the Prep Department of Malvern St James as pupils and staff dressed up to raise money for Children In Need and also took part in a Guinness World Record Breaking attempt. Fishing Rods, Wheelbarrows and pointy hats were plentiful as pupils worked through new curriculum subjects such as Gnome Economics and Elf and Safety. Pupils in Year 2 became Sherlock Gnomes, as they investigated numerous problems in Maths whilst In Year 6, pupils studied Eco’gnome’ics in relation to finance and real life problems. Following an eventful morning, our Gnome Parade marched up to Malvern Theatres, singing our Gnome song, to successfully take part in the Record Breaking attempt to form the largest gathering of people dressed as Gnomes. Once there, we led the rest of the gathering in singing our Gnome song live on the Radio. In total, 478 people took part, smashing the previous record of 331. A wonderful day was had by all with much money being raised by the pupils for BBC Children in Need.
