National Olympiad Science Competitions

Over the past few months, sixth form girls have been taking part in the National Olympiad Competitions in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Our results were exceptional, with several girls achieving commendations and medals.
The online Biology Competition was taken by nearly 3000 students across the county. Khairunnisa Haji Abdul Aziz was Highly Commended and both Maria Goryeava and Wajihah Abd Lamit were commended. Special congratulations go to Rebecca Fisher who achieved a Silver Award, placing her in the top 15% nationally.
Only 1690 students across the county qualified for Round 2 of the British Physics Olympiad, a very demanding 3 hour written paper. Our girls performed incredibly well. Irene Zheng was Commended and Jean Wang received a Bronze Medal. Both Zoe Xu and Rannie Ding received Silver Medals, placing them in the top 18% nationally. Tracy Huang received a Gold Medal, only awarded to the top 6% nationally and, outstandingly, Lucy Cui (pictured) was awarded a Gold Top 50 Medal which places her in the top 3% in the country.
These are amazing results and demonstrate the high calibre of scientists we have at MSJ. Well done to all the girls who took part.
