After our triumph at the Welsh Rally, the 1^st team had to step up to a higher calibre of competition when they took part in the Midlands Schools Tournament. In the pool matches – played on an oversized pitch – we beat RGS 6-1 and Pipers Corner 7-0. We had a tough match against Wycombe Abbey, unfortunately losing 4-0, but qualified 2nd in our section to make it through to the semi-finals. In this round we were up against our old rivals Moreton Hall. Despite a very tense match, MSJ pulled through to a 6-5 victory putting us through to the final. Whilst our match was being played, Stowe had succeeded in beating Wycombe in their semi-final, so it was Stowe we would face in the final. Another closely-fought match followed with the ball being continuously played up and down the pitch, but MSJ held on to their early lead, holding the final score to 3-2. This was a fantastic result and means that MSJ have succeeded in becoming the U18 Midlands Champions – a feat never before achieved by us! Players of the tournament are Frankie White and Jess Wright, who was the top scorer of the day with a total of 9 goals.
