Midsummer Promenade Concert

Midsummer Promenade Concert

The Midsummer Promenade Concert was a great success, with the capacity audience participating enthusiastically right up until the very last note. Performances from professional musicians, including members of the music staff, were balanced with contributions from the Elgar Chorale and MSJ pupils' vocal ensembles. Some traditional songs from around the British Isles, arrangements of Tijuana Brass music by Simon Lenton of the ESO Brass Ensemble and the piano duet version of Rhapsody in Blue, performed by Malcolm Forbes-Peckham and Levi Moscovici formed the backbone of this hugely entertaining evening. It was largely conducted by Donald Hunt, who also arranged much of the music performed. The MSJ vocal ensembles were directed by Lynne Lindner and Malcolm Forbes-Peckham accompanied throughout.

The audience took every opportunity to sing along and the concert finished on a high note with a rousing rendition of ‘Land of Hope and Glory'.
