Debating Success for MSJ Girls

Debating Success for MSJ Girls

Congratulations to Chloe Moore and Anna Baird, both in Year 11, who have successfully made it through to the final round of the Taylor Trophy. This is the principal debating competition in the Midlands for pre-sixth form students.

Chloe and Anna have worked together as debators many times and showed brilliant team work during this competition. The final will take place at Bromsgrove School in January next year.

Chloe and Anna were joined by Sarah Carrington (also Year 11) to compete in the English Speaking Union Public Speaking Contest. Started in 1960, the schools public speaking competition has become a high profile forum for the promotion of effective spoken English by young people. Taking part in the competition enables students to gain confidence, oral fluency and valuable presentation skills.

The girls were on top form and won the first round heat. They now go through to the County Final next month.

Well done girls and we wish you every success in January.
