Autumn Activity Day

Autumn Activity Day

Once again, the Preparatory Department gathered for the Annual Autumnal Activity Day and the sun was shining!

This year, activities included Wilderness Cookery, Natural Art, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, and Felt Making. Pupils worked collaboratively in mixed age groups and had a fabulous time, enjoying the new experiences and making the most of our fantastic grounds.

In the woods, children roasted a pineapple (surprisingly delicious), toasted marshmallows (always a favourite) and made camp fire bread rolls (yummy!) The large scale art project progressed throughout the morning as girls added to the huge leafy spiral around the pond and used conkers, fir cones and acorns to make more intricate decorations. Inside, the girls made felt leaves for a Prep Department Collage and tiny felt acorns, which they glued into real acorn cups, to hang on the centrepiece of the Goldsworthy Swirl.

A great time was had by all and huge thanks to the Prep Department teachers, D3 Outside and Caroline Ball, The Crafty Jeweller, without whose help and expertise the morning would have not been possible. Special thanks must go to Mrs Wilkinson, for organising and overseeing the whole event!
