A very friendly croquet match was held at The Mount on Sunday afternoon, 19 September. Alice, last year's Head Girl, who is now on the OGA Committee, was prepared to be instructed in the finer points of the game by Charles Rambridge and as a result won her match! Penny Smith, Vice-Chairman of the OGA, also brought along her family, Geoff, Tom and Anna to play on the higher lawn in the lovely Mount garden that so many of you will remember. The Middle School boarders came along to watch the fun and also have their own, sometimes first go, at croquet. The OGA is very grateful to Mrs Rachel Huntley who set up the Croquet Society last year and initiated this event. Thanks to Mrs Joan Newby for the delicious scones and to Mrs Liz Prophet for hosting the party and giving everyone, including Mrs Trish Woodhouse, the Headmistress, such a warm welcome. Andrew Rambridge was also enlisted to keep an eye on the following of rules. We very much hope that we can make informal events like this more common at School – we know it is difficult to find a time that suits, but please email any thoughts and ideas to Elisabeth Rambridge at
