ESO AND MALVERN ST JAMES' FIRST COLLABORATION CONCERT

Music PicOn Friday 14 March, the ESO String Orchestra will be performing its first concert at Malvern St James since the collaboration between the two was announced.

Taking place in the School’s York Hall, the ESO String Orchestra’s exciting programme for the concert includes Fiocco’s L’Anglaise, Mozart’s Divertimento in D, Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Greensleeves and Holst’s St Paul’s Suite.

Michael Bochmann, leader of the ESO who will be performing at the concert explains the choice of music: “This programme is a marriage of what the ESO loves playing and is known for, and the exciting collaboration with Malvern St James. The first piece is quite short and is called L'Anglaise, which then leads straight into one of Mozart's freshest and most beloved works. Boccherini's cello concerto is one of the great classical concertos written for this instrument. It will be played here by Peter Adams the ESO’s distinguished solo cellist, and is always a great favourite with audiences,” Michael explains.

Malvern St James' Director of Music Lynne Lindner said:
"We are absolutely delighted to host this event at Malvern St James, and are looking forward to a long and happy collaboration with theESO. We are lucky enough to have both first class facilities and a thriving music ethos at our School and I know the whole School 'family' will welcome this creative partnership".

The next section of the concert is all English music featuring some of the great British composers, Vaughan Williams, Holst and Walton. Grainger's wonderful short sparkling ‘Molly on the Shore’ is not to be missed and the ESO's resident composer's arrangement of Carrickfergus brings the evening to a very upbeat end indeed.
