Team Building in the Brecon Beacons
A coach packed with excited Year 9s, old girls and new, set out on Thursday 14 September for a three day residential adventure at Gilwern Outdoor Centre, near Abergavenny.
Under favourable Autumn skies, challenges faced us all in the shape of canoeing, caving, ropes and high trapeze; a fulfilling time was had by all girls and staff alike, with activities such as orienteering and group problem solving taking us through the evening.
Many opportunities to develop personal skills, make new friends and strengthen relationships across the year came from the team building and trust that all the different activities demanded.
A selection of top tips from tired but thrilled Year 9s are:
‘Be open minded’;
‘Over come your fears!’;
‘You will surprise yourself’;
‘Never give up, always have a second or third try!’;
‘ Find someone different to chat to in each new activity or every meal time’;
‘Take your new skills and confidence away in to your everyday life’.
Wise words indeed!
