Commemoration and Prizegiving
On 7 July our end of year Commemoration service was held in Worcester Cathedral, with a record number of guests in attendance. This special day marked the launch of MSJ’s 10th anniversary year, which will feature a range of celebrations. A new school song was composed for the occasion, with lyrics written by Head of Prep Ms Marina Stentiford. The choir and orchestra gave rousing and uplifting performances, enhanced by such an inspiring location.
Girls, parents, old girls and staff were invited back to Malvern St James for lunch followed by the Prizegiving ceremony in the Sports Hall, where departing Headmistress, Mrs Trish Woodhouse, gave a poignant and touching farewell speech.
We are very grateful to our guest speaker, old girl Tanith Carey, who writes for the Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and The Daily Mail. With two daughters, aged 11 and 14, she is also one of the UK’s most high-profile parenting authors; writing books which aim to lucidly set out the most pressing challenges for today’s families and offer achievable strategies for how to tackle them. Her most recent book, launched this May, is ‘Mum Hacks: Time Saving Tips to Calm the Chaos of Family Life’.
A wonderful day culminated in Strawberries and Cream in the Quad, where Year 13 leavers bade their tearful farewells to friends and members of staff.
