Visitors to Malvern St James

Miss Duseline Stewart, who was Headmistress of Lawnside from 1971 to 1990, visited Elisabeth Rambridge, the Old Girls' Association Secretary on Friday 16 October.

They have known each other for many years, as they used to be neighbours when Elisabeth had a cottage in Herefordshire. So the conversation flowed and ranged! They talked about the Lawnside Old Girls and Miss Stewart's hopes that Old Lawnsidians would start to make contact using the Malvern St James website. Duseline lent Elisabeth the research Miss Mary Dixey had done of the striking painting by Paul Robinet that Old Girls will remember so well. Both Duseline and Elisabeth are graduates of Scottish universities so things Scottish were mulled over as well. Still devoted to wee dogs, Duseline didn't have Dandy, her present Cairn Terrier with her, but she had the next best thing in the form of a dashing bag covered in terriers! She has just returned from a marvellous trip to Canada to visit her brother. It was so exciting that Old Girl Phyllida Lloyd gave away the prizes at Malvern St James last summer and you can see a fuller article about this in the news section. A group of Old Girls and former staff recently went to London to a performance of ‘MAMMA MIA!'. The history of Lawnside compiled by Mary Dixey and Duseline, with initial research by Sheila Barker has been invaluable to Elisabeth as she has been cataloguing the Archives of Lawnside passed over to the Archives in the summer.

Duseline encourages Old Lawnsidians to get in touch with Elisabeth Rambridge at and Elisabeth will pass on any messages and give Old Lawnsidians details about how to contact Duseline.
