Batsford opens its doors at last!
The waiting is over! Batsford finally opens its doors on Monday 6th September after many months of hard work during its conversion from the Bursary to the fantastic junior boarding house for years 3 – 8.
GCSE Celebrations! 92.5% A* to C grades
Following last week's excellent 'A' Level and AS success, Malvern St James is delighted to announce its GCSE results.
Commemoration and Speech Day
At the end of the Summer Term, the School said goodbye to their founding Headmistress, Mrs Rosalind Hayes, who is retiring.
Kite Making
Girls in Years 2 to 4 were able to express their creative flair recently during a kite making day.
GSA Junior Olympics
Once again, the annual GSA Junior Olympics for pupils in Years 3 and 4 was a great success.
Weston Super Mare Trip – a report by Mrs Wilkinson
Girls and staff from the Junior Department set off for a day in Weston Super Mare last weekend, armed with sun-cream, buckets and spades and a change of clothes... just in case!

HMS Triumph Rededication Ceremony
One of the Ships we have adopted for School competitive events is HMS Triumph, the nuclear submarine, which has spent the last six years being refitted, following active service in Afghanistan.
Outdoor Activity Day
An outdoor activity day at Aztec Watersports Centre gave girls in Years 2 to 4 the opportunity to build their confidence and team spirit, whilst undertaking an exciting challenge.
Smite Farm Science Trip
Year R to 5 pupils had the opportunity to explore an arable farm when they visited Lower Smite Farm near Worcester.
Congratulations! MSJ is awarded the Artsmark Gold Award
This week it has been announced that MSJ has achieved the highest Award offered to schools by the Arts Council, for dedication and commitment to the Arts – the Artsmark Gold.

Lucy Walton, Year 6, continues to astound with her progress on the international Golfing scene.

Junior History Trip
Girls in Years 4 and 5 were able to experience a taste of life during the Civil War when they visited The Commandery in Worcester.

Junior Maths Challenge
Girls from Years 6, 7, 8 and 11 took part in the Junior Maths Challenge Competition in May.
Butterfly Life Cycle
Girls in Class R-1 have studied the fascinating life cycle of butterflies as part of the Minibeasts science topic.
Manor Adventure
Year 5 and 6 pupils attended an outdoor activities trip to Manor Adventure in Shropshire.
Young Performers' Platform
The first Young Performers' Platform of the Summer Term was a great success and provided a wonderful lunchtime concert for the audience of girls, parents and staff.

The ‘Fabulous French Day', for girls in years R to 3, was a day of French themed activities including songs, stories, art, cookery and food tasting, fact finding and playground games.

There has been a strong African theme throughout the work produced by the Junior Department.
Prep Schools Choir Competition
As part of a celebration of the music which takes place with younger children, Malvern St James held the first Prep School Choir Competition on Sunday.

Juniors Trip to CBSO
Year 5 and 6 girls had a chance to enjoy first hand some of the music for which Malvern is famous, when they attended an exclusive schools performance of Elgar's Enigma Variations by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Greenslade House organised a hugely popular Body Shop Evening.

Actions Stations Day Hailed a Great Success
Malvern St James opened its doors to over 100 students from schools across the county last week for a dedicated day of sports, specifically designed to introduce the children to a broad range of activities.
Pyjamas and Popcorn
For one night only, the Hex in Hatfield was transformed into a jumble of fluffy slippers, multi-coloured duvets and mattresses for the annual Junior Department “Pyjamas and Popcorn” party.
Malvern St James and Macmillan Cancer Support:The Perfect Blend
In championing the Macmillan Cancer Support ‘World's Biggest Coffee Morning' initiative, Malvern St James has added a further £660 to the £2400 total it has already raised for the charity through various fund-raising activities.

A Teddy Bears' picnic at the end of term was a wonderful opportunity for girls in Years R to 2 to make friends with prospective pupils for next year.
Woodland Wonders
Class R-1 started the Woodland Schools initiative this term in a perfect space in the Junior Play Area.

Accompanied by Madame Wadman, Mrs Sherwood, Madame Holly, Mrs Bevan, Miss Kopsch and Mrs Jones, girls from Years 5 to 8 enjoyed a trip to the Chateau du Molay, near Bayeux.

Young Performers' Platform
The second Young Performers' Platform this term was devoted to our talented musicians in the Junior Department, who demonstrated their broad range of ability with performances from string, woodwind, brass and keyboard players, together with several singers.
Acorns Spring Run
Parents and siblings joined girls and staff from the Junior School and Years 7 to 11 and took part in the 5km Spring Run as part of the Acorns Spring Run.
Girls Give Their Verdict on Shortlisted Books

34 girls from the Junior Department and their teachers enjoyed a trip to Weston-Super-Mare for a fun day out.

Cycling Proficiency
Girls from Year 6 class took part in the cycling proficiency exam this term. This was meant to be a three day course but the girls were so good that it was condensed into two days.
Well Dressing - 2nd Prize to MSJ!
Last week Year 5 took part in a well dressing competition – a wonderful way to celebrate water. The theme this year was Charles Darwin and everyone took part in making something to put on the well.

Going for Gold Strategic Plan
Following an extensive period of research, which included current and prospective parents, current pupils and a review of the independent sector as a whole, we are very pleased to publish ‘Going for Gold', our Strategic Plan 2009–2012.

All Aboard for Musical Fun!
