Judith Davis and Elisabeth Rambridge went to Madrid during half term and had a fabulous time visiting the sights and living the life! They are pictured by the iconic symbol of Madrid, the bear and the strawberry tree. Everywhere they went, Judith was complemented on her excellent Spanish. As you can imagine, it was a very well planned trip: Friday was Museum Day, with coffee at The Prado, lunch at the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum and tea at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, after seeing Picasso's masterpiece Guernica. Elisabeth loved being back in the Iberian Peninsula as she was brought up in Portugal and Judith re-traced her favourite places, from the time she spent as a student in Madrid. The statue of Don Quixote with his faithful Sancho Panzo was very special to Judith. They visited the newly restored San Miguel market and also the completed Cathedral with the fine statue of Pope John Paul II in the courtyard outside. There was time to meet Judith's Spanish friends and also to take tapas and even have a sherry ice cream whilst promenading along the Gran Via which celebrates its Centenary this year.
