SENIOR SCHOOL
Arabian Nights

After watching a superb performance of ‘The Arabian Nights' at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Year 7 & 8 Drama Club girls devised their own version, which they performed for parents, teachers and friends.
Drama Teacher, Mrs Rhodes said, ‘It was a colourful and lively production using Eastern style costume and incorporating Indian dance and mime. The cast focused on telling the story of Shahrazad and how she won over King Shahrayar with her tales and the help of her sister Dinarzad, so that no more brides would be killed. The stories included The Little Beggar and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, where the cast became the thieves, the cave and the jewels! It was sad and humorous in turn, but ended with a joyful celebration.'
Mrs Wilkinson, teacher and parent, commented, ‘I was so impressed, particularly with the fluency of the narration and the dancing. The juniors really enjoyed it too!'
