SENIOR SCHOOL
Year 7 and 8 Geography Field Trip
Year 7 and 8's return to School after the Half Term break began with a Geography Field Trip to Upton-upon-Severn. Year 7 have been studying rivers this term and had learnt about the features at different stages along a river course. They were also aware of the flooding associated with the River Severn. Girls in Year 8 were eager to discover whether the theories they had developed about the impact of tourism could be tested in Upton.
Armed with the fieldwork tools of appropriate equipment, an enquiring mind and a keen eye, they carried out a variety of fieldwork tasks and techniques. Year 7 spent some time finding evidence of Upton's perennial flooding, whilst Year 8 found some responsive visitors and residents who were happy to answer their questionnaires.
Miss Greer, Assistant Head of Years 7 to 9, said, ‘All the girls agreed it was a most enjoyable trip; not just because it is nice to get out of the normal routine, but because real Geography happens outside the classroom and so it is good to get out and study it.'
