MSJ sports players have had another busy week:

Swimming

The Year 7+8 team and the 9+10 team faced Westonbirt in a swimming gala on Saturday afternoon. The 7+8 team gave their best effort but unfortunately lost. However, the Year 9+10 team were very impressive and won their competition.

On Saturday morning, an U11 team and U13 team competed in an Aquathlon held at Malvern College. The girls had to swim 100m and then run 800m.  The U11 team consisted of Chloe Parker, Alice Owen, Phoebe Boswell Ellis and Charlotte Jones. The U13 team was made up of Hayley Burke, Elizabeth Thomas and Penny Green. All the girls did extremely well and should be proud of their efforts. We are still waiting for the overall team results.

In Tennis:

The U13 league team played against the Chase. They drew 3 all and then went to a tie break which they just lost 7-10. The U13 team won 6 sets to 2 and the U12 team won 8 sets to 0. The U15's, 2nd and 1stteams played against Westonbirt on Saturday. The U15 team won 5 sets to 3, but unfortunately the 2nd's lost.  The 1st's played really well, despite the fact they were missing key players, and drew 2 sets all.

These are some great tennis scores, so well done to all players.

In Rounders, teams throughout the school have been very successful. The Yr 9, 10 and 11 teams played against King's Worcester last week. The Y9's played well but just lost their match. The Yr 10's beat their opposition 11- 8 ½ in a very tense match and the Yr 11's had a fantastic game, winning 34 ½ to 4. They managed to win even though they let Kings play with an extra player and MSJ were playing out of position in the second half.

On the same day, the Yr 6's faced RGS and played brilliantly. They had lots of enthusiasm and drew their match. The 1st and 2nd team played against King's Gloucester yesterday. The 2nd team played well together despite the fact it was their first match. Unfortunately even though they had lots of enthusiasm they lost. The 1st team were very excited to play; for some of the team it was the last rounders match we will ever play! The team played well and won their match 22-18 ½ and were pleased to find out that Kings Gloucester had been undefeated all season until playing us. Player of the match goes to Frankie White who did some brilliant hits and the most amazing catch I have ever seen!

Thanks must go to Ali Robb for her efforts in sorting out the teams.

Last week Lucy Walton achieved further success in Hockey. She has been invited to the Under 15 Midlands regional hockey assessment in Birmingham on Sunday 23rd May. Well done - this is fantastic considering Lucy is only in Yr 6!
