JUNIOR SCHOOL

Year 5 and 6 girls had a chance to enjoy first hand some of the music for which Malvern is famous, when they attended an exclusive schools performance of Elgar's Enigma Variations by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

The girls were very impressed by the venue and the impact of the special design of the hall on its acoustics. Everyone agreed that the orchestra gave a wonderful performance and the music sounded absolutely fantastic! The concert gave the girls a great insight into Elgar's music and made them appreciate his link with the area and their School. A piano from Lawnside School which is housed in our Music Department bears a plaque which reads ‘Sir Edward Elgar and Mr Bernard Shaw played duets on this piano at Lawnside, August 1929'.
