At Malvern St James we have a holistic approach to pastoral care. We strongly believe that the girls’ happiness is important and we strive to develop all the dimensions of our girls.
We aspire to provide them with many opportunities to facilitate development of their own individuality, whilst learning also that personal freedom involves responsibility to others.
We have a dedicated Pastoral Team consisting of the Director of Pastoral Care who works very closely with the Chaplain, the Health Centre, Boarding Staff and Academic Staff; with systems in place to support individual girls, whatever their particular need.
The physical and emotional well-being of each girl within our care is at the heart of our community. We aim to provide a supportive environment where a positive attitude to health, fitness and self-image is fostered and girls feel comfortable in their own skin. Malvern St James is a place where girls have a sense of belonging and their self-esteem is able to grow because they feel valued.
Communication between those who work with and care for the girls is essential. We endeavour to establish, warm friendly relationships with parents, encouraging them in regular contact about their daughters. All staff understand their responsibility for pastoral care, with academic and boarding staff working together to support girls in engaging fully in the vibrant and enriching community life, from which we all benefit. The boarding staff offer a home from home environment, in which they are passionate about nurturing and encouraging the girls in their care.
