Ballet lessons at MSJ are run very much like those at a Dance School and take place with ‘Miss Karen’, who has registered teaching status with the Royal Academy of Dance.

Qualified with the Royal Academy of Dance after passing her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies, Miss Karen has been dancing since she was 3 years old, and as she got older she entered into competitions, winning Ballet Championships. She then brought her own dance school in 2007. Miss Karen was asked to join the team at Malvern St James in 2014 and since starting the Ballet classes has entered girls in for their Ballet exams achieving a great set of results. Staff and parents have commented on the improvement of the girls since Miss Karen started.

Street Dance is taught by Kym Lane. Kym started having Ballet lessons at the age of 2, but then gave up to pursue Ballroom and Latin Dance. Her interest in dance continued throughout her school days; she took part in many dance shows within school and began to compete doing Ballroom and Latin. She also joined W'ire Dance Company which involved more dance performances within the style of contemporary. Kym then went on to study Dance at Kidderminster College to do A Levels and BTEC, and followed this with a dance teaching job for the Worcester Dance Centre where she worked for six years. During this time she went on to further her studies in Dance at Worcester University and received a HND and the New Bucks University to gain the top-up year completing her degree in Dance.  She has been teaching Dance at Malvern St. James for three years to both Prep and Senior School girls and teaches group Dance lessons in the styles of Street Dance and Contemporary.

What a forward-thinking, positive and successful school we have chosen for our daughter.
