Physical Education

We want all girls to gain a positive experience of a wide range of sporting activities that they will continue to pursue as part of a healthy lifestyle beyond the school environment.

We provide the opportunity to do 5 hours of PE and sport a week at school and in the community. We have a dedicated team of specialist teaching staff, fitness instructors and coaches, a fully equipped fitness suite, a dance studio and a large sports hall complete with climbing wall and additional provision for 10 different sports. It is without doubt a fantastic, unique building that cannot fail to motivate all who visit it.

We have representative teams in all the major games as well as many individual girls who compete in a variety of sports at county, regional, national and international level. We are proud of the results achieved locally and regionally and we enjoy playing an active role in our School Sports Partnership liaising with the Competitions Manager and hosting many local tournaments and festivals.

GCSE

In Years 10 and 11, you enjoy two double lessons of non-examined Physical Education per week. During these lessons in Year 10, you continue to develop skills and tactics in each of our traditional team sports, but alongside these, a number of new activities are introduced. In Year 11, you can then make informed choices and select from a variety of activities on offer.

An optional full course GCSE PE is also offered, which is a fantastic subject choice if you want to combine your love for sport with academic study.

BTEC Level 3 National Subsidiary Diploma in Sport

This is equivalent to one GCE A Level (or two AS Levels). Students take core and specialist units that lead to a combined total of 360 guided learning hours. A candidate achieving a Distinction at the end of the two-year course will earn 120 UCAS points, which equates to an A Grade in a traditional A Level examination. The National Subsidiary Diploma is designed to enable students to learn about the sports industry with the emphasis on practical, work-related projects and assignments.
