Curriculum

The curriculum aims to offer a broad and balanced general education suited to all pupils, from EYFS to Year 13, across the full age and ability range by:

  • Contributing effectively to the intellectual, physical and personal attainment and development of the pupils.
  • Preparing pupils for the next stage of education, training or employment and to provide the skills needed for life-long, independent learning.
  • Provide continuity and progression from one key stage to the next.
  • Providing equality of access and opportunity for all pupils.
  • Meeting the requirements of those pupils who need special provision, including very able pupils, and those for whom English is an additional language.
  • Providing enrichment through extra-curricular activities.
  • Being supported by an effective system of tutoring.

The curriculum follows the principles of the new National Curriculum.  The seven areas of Learning form the key structure of the curriculum for Early Years Foundation Stage.  Modifications to these programmes may exist in some areas, if Heads of Subject consider it appropriate.  Some variations also exist in the percentage of the teaching week allocated to individual subjects as compared with the National Curriculum.
