Hatfield (Yr 9 - 11)

Hatfield is a very vibrant and energetic community filled with a variety of individuals from different backgrounds. We share our differences and unite them into a mixture of ideas and aspirations, which inspire us every day.

Hatfield offers every single boarder an activity that fits their interests daily allowing us to learn and become independent individuals as well as team players through engaging pastime.

Our weekends are constantly full, and everyone is included so that no one is ever bored. We enjoy nights of pampering, when girls take up the role of beauticians and just relax in the company of friends. During the day on Sundays we savour cuisines of different cultures and every weekend there’s a new treat: Nigerian, Malaysian, Ukrainian, Chinese, Mexican, Russian or British. Film nights take place on a weekly basis, where
all girls gather in the living room with popcorn and enjoy their favourite films. As well as having a lot of fun, the girls work hard and are prepared for the new week.

During the school days, boarders go back to the house in the evening to find a tranquil environment supporting them and offering help as well as constantly providing them with educational material to help with their studies and broadening their knowledge. Year 9’s have allocated time for prep, which allows them to complete their work in a non-pressured atmosphere, surrounded by friends. Further still, girls have a chance to relax  by taking part in yoga and Zumba sessions. The current affairs board is renewed every week and all boarders from Year 9 to Year 11 take part in discussions on global issues and events. As a result girls enhance their knowledge of the world surrounding them and bond no matter what year they are in. Another popular activity is knitting, during which girls learn basic skills and can complete a scarf by themselves. Every week a new Fact-of-the-Week is written in the foyer, and as girls leave for school they learn something new.

After an industrious week, everyone is once again ready to unwind in the welcoming atmosphere surrounding Hatfield. Arts & crafts is a popular activity which most of the girls take part in, creating something themselves with the support of experts in the area of jewellery and other “hand-made” products. Moreover, girls organise discos that allow them to have fun with friends and enjoy good music. Sunday evening we also have House Prayers which serve as an event during which we can reflect and once again unite as a community. Girls as well as housemistresses emphasise topics important for individuals and life in the community by providing examples from different religions and beliefs and so addressing every boarder.
