Safeguarding

Malvern St James is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All staff are required to act in the best interests of our pupils at all times, as described in our “Safeguarding Policy”.

We recognise our duty under the Education Act 2002 to make arrangements to ensure that functions are carried out with a view to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

It is the intention of the procedures within our policy to ensure that the appropriate action is taken immediately where it is believed a student may be at risk or it is alleged that a student is suspected of being abused.

Each staff member, volunteer or staff contracted from outside agencies is responsible for ensuring that the policy is translated into action through his or her daily practice.

MSJ’s recruiting and selection procedures specify that all adults who work in 'regulated activity' (e.g. unsupervised activities such as teaching, training, instructing or supervising children); and work in a 'specified place' such as a school; and this work is regular (e.g. once a week or more, four or more days in a 30 day period or overnight) will require an enhanced DBS Disclosure. This is to help ensure that unsuitable people are prevented from working with children

Our prime concern at all times must be the interests and safety of our pupils.
